We’ve all been astounded by the impact of social networking on our daily lives over the past couple of years and developers like me have been left wondering, “When will social media applications be in reach of the rest of us without having to join a big web company?” The answer is, sooner than you think. I’ve been developing on the Wordpress platform for just over a year now and I’ve learned how to make it do anything I want. Now, with the development of their newest set of plugins called “BuddyPress”, I’m able to take it to the next level and offer my clients powerful social networking features, some might say more powerful than facebook, at a fraction of the cost.

The future of social media is in niche networks, or networks that appeal to a very specific group of people. You can read about it in this article from USA Today. If you have a great idea for a social network, one that appeals to a specific group of people (quilting, video gamers, travelers, whatever you want!) then I would love to design your platform. Give me a ring or shoot me a message and let’s get started!

Well it’s about time…after 2 years of doing everyone else’s site, it was time to rehaul my own. All I really wanted was something that didn’t have all of the broken links that my old site had. I just haven’t had time…and yes, I think for a designer, it’s much harder to design your own site. With that in mind, I had someone else do most of the design and I simply did the programming. I’m just thrilled to have a clean site where I can showcase my work, keep people up-to-date with the latest news and even have a place to blog…though I’m not sure if I’ll be doing much of that or not.

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy the site and that it’s easy to get around on. At least now you can see some recent work from the last year instead of stuff that I did when I was still cutting my teeth in this business. Leave a comment to let me know what you think!
