We’ve all been astounded by the impact of social networking on our daily lives over the past couple of years and developers like me have been left wondering, “When will social media applications be in reach of the rest of us without having to join a big web company?” The answer is, sooner than you think. I’ve been developing on the Wordpress platform for just over a year now and I’ve learned how to make it do anything I want. Now, with the development of their newest set of plugins called “BuddyPress”, I’m able to take it to the next level and offer my clients powerful social networking features, some might say more powerful than facebook, at a fraction of the cost.
